5 Tips for Grooming Short Haired Dogs

Finding a groomer to take care of your furry friend can be difficult, so many people prefer to groom their dog themselves. With so many different kinds of dogs in the world, it can be tricky to figure out what kind of grooming services is best for your dog's fur. If your dog has short hair, here are a few tips on how to make your pup proud of their beautiful, shiny coat!

Dog Grooming
  1. Brush your dog's fur regularly to keep their coat shiny. Your dog's skin produces natural oils and brushing them through the coat will ensure your pup is looking clean and healthy.
  2. Don't bathe your dog too often. Bathing too frequently can lead to skin irritation and may remove the natural oils in your dog's coat. Most short-haired dogs only need to be bathed once a month.
  3. Use a currycomb to remove loose fur and dirt from your dog's coat. This comb will stimulate your dog's hair follicles and give them a nice massage!
  4. Remove dead skin cells and any remaining hair with a soft-wired brush. While you're doing this, you can check your dog's skin for any inflammation or parasites. The sooner you catch any irregularities, the better!
  5. Don't forget the ears! Lots of short-haired dogs have cute, floppy ears. Use a warm, wet washcloth to wipe around the ear opening once or twice a month.
